Munger Place was established in 1905 on 300 acres are one of Dallas's first suburbs. With careful planning, Munger Place was the very first deed-restricted neighborhood in Texas and featured sidewalks, paved streets, shade trees, and electric lights. In the 1970s, Munger Place was revived and in 1980 was given the title of Munger PlaceHistoric District.
Munger Place is made up of more than 250 homes, making it the largest collection of Prairie-Style homes in America. Munger Place is a highly sought after neighborhood, with many homes being remodeled and renovated without losing their classic, early-mid 1900's charm.
The style of many Munger Place homes are of the Prairie Style, which features two stories with large front porches, low hipped or double pitched roofs, and banding of windows. Munger Place offers residents of Dallas and the surrounding areas to come and visit during its once a year during its Home Tour. The Home Tour, typically held in the fall, features several homes in Munger Place, as well as vender booths and an entertainment stage.
